When my kids were small and we would be staying in the same hotel room for a number of days, I would feed them food from room service in the bathtub to contain all the mess. The kids thought it was a riot, and I stopped worrying about smeared ketchup on the bedspreads. —Bryan Bromley, mom of Ben, 8, Emma, 5, and Spencer, 1
I always call ahead to find a grocery delivery service so we have will staples, snacks, and drinks waiting for us when we arrive, and don’t have to totally depend on hotel room service. —Anonymous
• Eat a big breakfast. It’s often the cheapest, most reliable meal you can find.
• If you go to fast-food restaurants, look for restaurants that offer more healthy options than burgers and french fries.
• Take advantage of room service to allow your child to eat without being on his best manners and to take a break from the bustle of being outside all day long.
